Posted on Sustainabilitank.info on May 12th, 2008 From: dorothyneil at yahoo.com Mr. Dorothy Neil Doroin wrote us from the Philippines about his devise - a machine/gadget that when inplaced in a petrol or diesel engine creates an amazing result in reducing their emission. Mr. Doroin informed us about his invention earlier - now he attaches the certified test results coming from the Environmental Management Bureau in the Philippines. We decided to post these results in the hope that an interested party would contact Mr. Doroin and follow up with him about the possibility to commercialize his invention that seems to have the potential to reduce impact of said engines on our environment. ### |

Posted on Sustainabilitank.info on April 8th, 2008 The following is a set of two separate press releases at the UN that fails to make the connection between the two and leaves us with the impression that the UN is less interested in the wellbeing of the poor then in making sure that biofuels do not impact on the use of oil. Now, why do we say that? This because of the clear value of the need to bring about a return to local production of food - rather then the continuation of the wasteful global reliance on transport of food from one region of the world to another. What it does not say is that the global cheap food market has destroyed the local farmers driven economy in practically all corners of the world - including the poorest of the poor who can only do subsistence farming at best but cannot get an income by selling to a market - not even in their own countries. This is an oil-driven economy that must stop for many different reasons - including the reasons brought out in the following two separate articles - by the UNESCO scientists and by the OAPEC humanitarians. AGRICULTURE MUST REVERT TO MORE NATURAL, LOCAL PRODUCTION – UN-BACKED REPORT Modern agricultural practices have exhausted land and water resources, squelched diversity and left poor people vulnerable to high food prices, even though they are also highly productive, according to a report announced by the United Nations scientific agency today. “Business as usual is no longer an option,” states the International Assessment of Agricultural Science and Technology for Development (IAASTD), which will be formally launched on 15 April by the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
The report’s authors recommend that agricultural science place greater emphasis on safeguarding natural resources and on ‘agro-ecological’ practices, including the use of natural fertilizers, traditional seeds and intensified natural practices, and reducing the distance between production and the consumer. The need for action is urgent, the report says, because many poor people are now reliant on the global food market, where soybean and wheat prices have increased by 87 per cent and 130 per cent respectively in the last year. Global grain stores are today at their lowest level on record and prices of staple foods such as rice, maize and wheat are expected to continue to rise because of increased demand, especially i |
