The U.S. Department of Energy, the National Renewable Energy Laboratory will hold a COP 16 side event on Open Energy Information (OpenEI,

Wednesday, December 1, 10:00-11:30 AM, at the US Center in CancunMesse.

Open Energy Information is a free, open source knowledge-sharing platform created to facilitate access to data, models, tools, and information that accelerate the transition to clean energy systems. OpenEI follows guidelines set by the White House’s Open Government Initiative <>, which promotes transparency, collaboration, and participation.

The event will include overviews of the international gateways included on the site:

Coordinated Low Emissions Assistance Network (CLEAN) –
International Clean Energy Analysis –
America Latina –
Low Emissions Development Strategies (LEDS) –

The session will conclude with audience Q&A and discussion.
