The UN inspired the HOPENHAGEN blog and now it is actually a full fledged vehicle of hope for a 6.8 billion members world.

It presents a form for you to sign if you want your name mentioned in the hopeletter. Nothing wrong with this as long as you do not believe for one moment that they have actually a deal-to-seal.

What we are saying is that the actual negotiations start only in Copenhagen, and the best we see is that by December 2012 there will be a final document signed and ratified to realize the good intentions that were put before us inĀ  what was the Kyoto experiment in multilateral diplomacy.

There is nothing wrong with hopes – as long as you do not walk around with eyes closed so you do not make progress in the direction you say you want to go. The way the UN lead the pack of 192 just did not show that they knew how to reach a goal – some say they even did not want to reach a goal – but then if they did not push us all to make sure that we know there is a problem indeed, we would not have reached even this poor situation we are in now. So don’t despair – even a bumbling and wasting UN is better then nothing when you look for Hope.
