(Oct. 23) — The Obamas strike an informal pose in their first official White House family portrait.
The picture by celebrity photographer Annie Leibovitz was posted on the White House Flickr page Friday morning.
There are big smiles all around as Sasha, 8, drapes her arm over her dad’s shoulder and Malia, 11, embraces her mom. The president wears a shirt and tie but no jacket. And, for a change, it’s Malia, not the first lady, who goes sleeveless. First dog Bo is nowhere in sight.

Leibovitz took the picture Sept. 1 in the Green Room of the White House. The photographer is no stranger to the Obamas. She’s been seen often around the White House for months.
Their professional relationship goes back to 2004, when Leibovitz photographed the family during Obama’s Senate campaign, according to Vanity Fair. Earlier this year, the magazine featured her portraits of the new president and his team. (Click to see those photos.) Leibovitz also did the cover shot of Michelle Obama for the March issue of Vogue.
The photographer made headlines recently because her financial problems have put a lifetime of work on the line. She must find a way to repay a $24 million loan or risk losing the rights to every picture she’s ever taken.
