2008 Conference: Blueprints for Sustainable Infrastructure
Tuesday 9 December - Friday 12 December 2008
Mark your calendars now.
Blueprints for Sustainable Infrastructure is the 3rd International Conference on Sustainability Engineering and Science hosted by NZSSES. Click here to view details of the launch event.
The Inaugural conference in 2004 debated the philosophy and definitions of sustainability, our 2nd Conference in 2007 - Talking and Walking Sustainability - focused on developments, a little more philosophy and a lot of what was happening in reality. The 3rd conference takes the approach that sustainability is now essential and will offer methods and models for achieving sustainable outcomes.
Infrastructure provides the basic needs for society, and sustainable infrastructure systems are essential for the survival, health and well-being of a society. These are complex, interdependent and dynamic systems in need of greater understanding and recognition. Key to this understanding is recognising the dependence on environmental systems and services, the interdependence on other infrastructure systems, and on social, technical and economic systems.
This conference will help foster and develop that understanding. Attending the conference will be invaluable to anyone involved in the disciplines of engineering, environmental and social science, and for consultants and business leaders amongst others. We look forward to seeing you there.
