Dear Pincas,
Big Oil is serious about one thing – they want to keep us addicted to oil.
Gas prices are through the roof, putting the pinch on our everyday lives. Yet while American consumers choose between food on the table and gas in the tank, Big Oil is raking it in. And they’re telling us that the only way to lower gas prices is to drill, drill, drill.
It’s a vicious circle: High profits lead to high gas prices, which lead to more drilling and higher profits. This is no way to end our pain at the pump. Drilling in the Arctic or other special places in America can’t ease the pain and won’t cure our addiction to oil.
Visit ShameOnBigOil.org and sign the petition to declare independence from Big Oil!
We recently launched ShameOnBigOil.org, with our conservation partners across the country, to expose Big Oil’s slick scheme to stick it to the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, America’s Arctic, our nation’s coasts, and other public lands across the country.
Exxon recently reported second-quarter profits of $11.68 billion–the largest quarterly profit ever by a U.S. corporation. The rest of Big Oil followed suit. It’s no coincidence we’re paying record gas prices while they rake in record profits. Is it any wonder why a gallon of gas costs over $4?
Yet Big Oil wants us to believe that drilling in the last untouched piece of America–the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge–is the solution to all our problems. Is there any limit to their greed?
Shame On Big Oil! Is there anything they won’t do? Click here to sign…
It’s time for our elected leaders to say NO to Big Oil and say YES to real solutions that help consumers and protect our last untouched wilderness places.
Thanks for your help to keep Alaska and our public lands and waters across the country wild!
